Hello! I'm a bit new to achievement hunting and was notified while trying to get verified by a helpful staff member that i have some cheated achievements without even realizing it.

Team Fortress 2: I was joining a lot of community servers- mostly trading ones- and joined a server that gave me a lot of achievements. I don't know what exact achievements were given to me, so i'll relock all of them.

Hey Ferry, thanks for creating an appeal. This is a pretty common problem that happens with tf2. There are a considerable amount of achievements that unlock together from the achievement server, and i can see which ones they were. Relocking the cheated ones individually may take you some time, but you would keep the ones that you obtained legitimately. In saying that, if you don't care all too much, then it is perfectly fine just to relock all of them. You may have some other steps to take with relocking these achievements as well because of the nature of tf2.

If you decide to relock all of them, reopen the game to make sure nothing automatically unlocks on startup. If that does happen, you may need to reset your game's progress in-game, and then relock the achievements again.
If you want to only relock the ones that are cheated, i can show you what to do to find those easily. However, you may still have to reset the game's progress if they automatically unlock on startup again.
And of course, if you would rather not possibly lose all of your game's progress/statistics, then it's fine to leave the game as is. It will just not count for any points on the leaderboards.

Hello Fabio, thank you for taking care of the appeal! My top priority right now is to have my profile clean, so i wouldn't mind relocking all of my achievements, but there some really hard ones that i got legitimately, so i would prefer to have only the ones from the server relocked. Also i'm not really sure how to use the SAR so if you would help me a bit i would be more than happy.

Alrighty, here is a link to your steamhunters tracker profile, specifically the TF2 page. https://steamhunters.com/id/ferryasek/s ... hievements On the top, you can also access your completionist.me tracker (to the right of the AStats icon), which you may find easier to use for this. Either should work fine.

It looks like every achievement earned on 8/21/2016 (August 21st in 2016 in case your shorthand date system is different) was from the achievement server, except for "Dance Dance Immolation". I keep losing count near the end, but there are around 114 achievements that were unlocked that day around the same time. You should just be able to ctrl+f that date on either tracker in the timestamp format they use in order to find which ones exactly i mean.
-E.g. 21 Aug '16 for steamhunters should highlight 115 achievements, including dance dance immolation.
Once you do that, you'll need some way of figuring out which achievements you have relocked already as you go through the list, whether it be your memory or writing it down, etc.

For using SAR, it is rather simple once you start using it. After downloading it from the link in our FAQs, you should see a .exe called "SAR.Picker.exe", which is what you will want to run. The window that pops up will then show every game you currently own on steam, or that you have the license for. Tf2 may not show up if you have not played it in the last 2 weeks / do not have it downloaded, as it is a free game. If you do not see it, redownload tf2, run it, and then you should be able to see it after reopening the program. Each game is in alphabetical order in the program window, too.
1) When you find the tf2 image, open that up and the next window will be each achievement you currently have unlocked in the game.
2) You will need to go through the list to find each achievement gained from the achievement server, which you should see from one of your tracker profiles i gave you. As you find each achievement, click on the checkbox to unmark it. This will make it ready for relocking.
3) After you have unchecked all 114 achievements from that server, press the commit changes in the top right of that window. You should see a text box pop up saying something similar to "Stored 114 achievements and 0 statistics". If it says less than that, you most likely missed some.
4) With that done, reopen tf2 to check for any achievements that automatically unlock, and let me know how it goes.

--I said this earlier but want to say it again: Tf2 is one of the known problem games and does not always work the same when relocking achievements for it. Some achievements may unlock automatically again, all of them may, or none of them may (from my experience). If many unlock right away, you'll most likely need to reset your statistics in-game, and relock the achievements that unlocked again.

Hey! I tried to relock my achievements via the SAR, but i had trouble starting it up even after multiple reinstallations. However, TF2 has an in-game option to reset all achievements, so i did that. Now that i have all achievements relocked, is there anything else i have to do?

I suppose that works just as well , thanks for doing that. The last thing i'll need to ask for you to do (unless you already have) is reopen the game to check for an achievements that automatically unlock again.

So every time only 5 achievements pop up. I can relock them how many times i want but they pop up every time. The interesting thing is that i checked and none of them is from the day i got all the achievements at once. So i'm not really sure what to do.

I'm going to assume that you did not reset your tf2 statistics as well, so correct me if i am wrong.

Go ahead and try to relock the achievements in tf2 again the same way, but this time also relock the statistics in game as well. You can find that in the character menu, and then statistics.

My bad. You were right, i needed to reset my stats as well. Now no achivements pop up whatsoever.
