hello mods,

a few days ago i clicked my way through some of the achievement tracking sites and found myself on exophase. i discovered that i m not ranked because suspiscious unlocks.

i got flagged because: Counter Strike Source - Gift Grab - which i failed to get when it was available. i own the game for like 10years now - but got into achievement hunting in 2017 - so i reset my CS Source game to an older version and obtained it that way.

I didnt know better at that time and i felt like its something that the devs (valve) could have done way better @ either letting players earn this normally every year like in left 4 dead - or erasing it from the total...

When i talked with a kind staff member on exophase, he mentioned that there was a new fix that Astats found - but there is no official statement what the Unified Rules stand is regarding that matter.

so i would like to know if there is any hope for me ? - or what can i do to fix this ?



i know about the rules now and want to be a better achievement hunter in the future.

Hey joey, thanks for creating an appeal about this. The discussions about that achievement are still in the works actually! So we have no official statement regarding it yet. I am somewhat confused though, are you mainly asking if you can obtain the achievement via the new fix?

sorry i wrote that so confusing - first and foremost - my goal is to get a clean record and get ranked again to compete fair and square.

i really want to know how that can be achieved. As far as i understand it i have to relock -Gift Grab- in CSS and thats all ?

and secondly - ofc i would like to know if there is a legit way of obtaining that -Gift Grab- nowaydas. like in left4dead.

Currently, it would probably be best to go ahead and relock CSS's gift grab achievement in order to be back on the leaderboards. Once a decision has been made regarding the gift grab achievement method, an announcement will probably be made on the various tracker sites .

you are right. i already wanted to relock -Gift Grab- and i got it done today - i started the game afterwards and everything seems to work properly.

please confirm that it works as intended and my account is clear.

PS: i just saw that, as i installed Counter-Srike:Source again after like a year or two, a few of my steam friends unlocked -GIft Grab- in nov 2020 with the help of a "100pAG - Gift Grab Achievement" server. and i quote: "This method is approved and endorsed by moderators of AStats and 100pAG." and now i am seriously confused -.- did i miss another chance ? or is using this server not something you agree with ? this method is new to me thats why i m supprised. i hope you can help me understand this mess

Ah, i think i see where a possible misunderstanding is. We are not AStats or from 100pAG, and most other trackers and this site follow the UAHR. We're still in the evaluation phase and right now it's more or less a "please do not use this method right now". If it ends up being allowed, then by all means we will encourage users to use this method, but until it is decided it is better not to do so.

So again, please do no use this method yet. I will go ahead and let an Exophase staff member know that your account can be unbanned!
