Hello mods,

According to the info I got from Exophase I need to make an appeal here in order to get my Steam account clear again, so thanks for helping with this request.

This Steam profile used to be a family account (me, my wife and my two sons), but now it's only me and my wife, so I'm 100% sure this won't happen again.

It seems my account was flagged for at least two games :

Batman - Arkham Origins : Multiplayer achievements were unlocked after the servers were already down. I'm pretty sure I did most of the single player stuff myself, so one of my sons must have used some kind of tools to unlock the other achievements. To be sure, I've reset all achievements for this game.

Ridge Racer™ Unbounded : Same as previous, but this case is a little different since I've never played this game myself (nor my wife). I've reset the game.

I'm not sure what I did with Steam Achievements Manager was correct, so I hope everything was reset the right way.

Please let me know if there are other issues with my account, I want to make it clear so we can continue hunting achievements.

Also, please note that I live in China, and because of the Great Firewall here I need to be connected to a VPN to make sure achievements unlocked while playing are registered on Steam servers, but in some cases (probably just a few), if I lost the VPN connection while playing, several cheevos can have the same timestamps in the end, probably because they were registered on my next login to Steam. There's not much I can do to fix that, VPN connections are very unstable in China.

Anyway, if there's anything else I can do to make my account clean again, I'll be happy to do it.

Hey yopadato, thanks for creating an appeal about this. And no worries, language barriers can be difficult haha.

Generally speaking, we require that accounts are not shared among people. Before anything, we'd really need to make sure that only you play on your account if you are getting achievements.

Since my sons are not here anymore and have their own Steam accounts, they won't use this account and mess with it anymore. My wife also has her own Steam account, we just play some local co-op games sometimes, but I guess this is not an issue.

Perfect And with you relocking these achievements, everything looks fine. The last thing I need from you is to reopen both of these games to make sure nothing automatically unlocks on startup. After that, I'll be able to get you revalidated on the leaderboards. Let me know if anything happens!

I made sure to delete any save file for those games, then I reopened them and nothing was unlocked, so I guess we"re good

Actually, i found something else i needed to ask you about. Star Wars knights of the old republic has a rather large cluster of achievements in it as well. This should be my last question!

Yes, you're right about KOTOR 2, but I can confirm unlocked cheevos are 100% legit, even though a bunch of cheevos have the same timestamp. The reason is something I mentioned earlier, I was already living in China and the VPN I used at the time (Astrill) was blocked by the Chinese government during several weeks (and that still happens...). Without a VPN, cheevos can't be synced with Steam, and at the time I couldn't even login to my Steam account and had to play offline. I think even the total playtime is not correct for this game.

If this is really a problem, I can reset some of the cheevos, but honestly I'd rather not, since I spent many hours on this game to unlock everything. Let me know.

Reopened appeal as it was brought up that necrodancer was completed incredibly fast. Alongside this, achievements in other games were unlocked at about the same time as necrodancer (resident evil and company of heroes). It also appears you are not on the leaderboards for necrodancer. Do you know what might have happened?

I'm not sure about Crypt of the Necrodancer, as I didn't play this game myself, but I remember one of my sons used to play this game a lot. About the leaderboards, for this game and maybe some others, it could be because we played in offline mode, or simply because one particular game's servers can't be reached from China (blocked by Chinese FAI and/or the Great Firewall). Since Necrodancer is not a game I played and completed myself, I've reset it completely.

Now, about games that were played at the same time, I guess it happened sometimes, when I was playing a game and my sons were also playing, thanks to the Steam Family Sharing function (usually only one player could be online, the other ones were playing in offline mode). I'm sorry but the timestamps can be a real mess when you have to deal with Steam offline mode on different computers and very unstable VPN connection to bypass the Great Firewall (sometimes weeks without VPN...). So, unfortunately, that means wrong/strange timestamps and even total playtime not reported correctly, and I'm sorry about that but as long as I live here, this might happen again, but not that much since I'm now the only one using this Steam account and my VPN (ExpressVPN) is a little better than the one I was using before (Astrill).
